Bike Check: Jon’s Arctodus

This staff bike feature blurs every line imaginable and guess what: WE LOVE IT. Otso bikes are made to be as versatile as their riders and Jon took his Arctodus and ran with it. Enjoy the gallery and remember: If you’re not having any fun, you might be doing it wrong.

THE BUILD

Jon took the versatility of Arctodus and ran with it. Seriously ran with it. We designed this bike to be fun and built to suit the needs of the rider. Single speed (!!) with a 30 x 18T drivetrain for the fall; he has 20 and 22T cogs ready for when the snow flies. For tires, 26″ x 4.8″ Surly Bud and Lou for maximum float and traction. The Surly Corner Bar allows a drop bar riding position while still utilizing flat bar brake levers. And rounding out the build, Jon used lots of silver bits from Wolf Tooth and Thomson, a Brooks C17 saddle, and of course we have to mention those Wolf Tooth Ripsaw Aluminum Pedals in shiny Raw Silver.

Arctodus was built for exploration and fun. It has adjustable geometry, a durable steel frame, a massive front triangle for a frame bag, lots of cargo mounts, and can clear the biggest 26″ and 27.5″ fat bike tires on the market. Arctodus is ready for afternoon exploration, polar expeditions, and everything in between.
